Lobbying Advocacy and Communication
Different expertise shared value

Over the years, Bistoncini Partners has consistently promoted the importance of integrating diverse expertise and individual workgroups. The ongoing cross-contamination that results allows us to identify specific narrative clusters, within which all the activities involving the company—public affairs, digital & media communication, and community relations—can converge at the local, national, and international levels.

LOBBYING & PUBLIC AFFAIRS

This division specializes in guiding clients through a process of accreditation and strategic positioning within decision-making arenas at the European, national, and local levels.

We provide companies with strategic consulting aimed at resolving specific issues, anticipating risks, and seizing opportunities arising from decision-makers’ choices to support their business plans. Through detailed political intelligence and legislative monitoring, we analyze the political, institutional, and social context in which each client operates, ensuring constant and well-informed updates on key regulatory developments of interest.

Thanks to an in-depth understanding of the political-institutional landscape, achieved through careful profiling of key stakeholders, we support clients in all stakeholder engagement activities. To ensure decision-makers fully understand the implications of their political choices, Bistoncini Partners collects and selects relevant elements and information with the client, carrying out legislative drafting activities and producing analytical content and position papers. This approach fosters constructive dialogue aimed at influencing policy choices or presenting concrete proposals for improving the regulatory framework.

Bistoncini Partners develops an advocacy communication strategy that always translates into the creation of a native “omnichannel” storytelling approach. This method effectively meets contemporary needs by leveraging a symbiotic action between traditional media and digital channels.
Every traditional communication effort enhances its effectiveness when supported by a well-planned social media strategy. Conversely, an issue that gains traction on social media gains even more strength when it enters the mainstream media agenda.

DIGITAL ADVOCACY

A specialized team dedicated to designing and developing Web Advocacy campaigns, conducting Web Listening analyses, and managing personal branding strategies.
Starting from an analysis of online thematic conversations—where an increasing number of stakeholders take part—we develop communication strategies aimed at positioning key issues in the public debate, supporting public affairs activities.

An omnichannel communication strategy—combining social media, media relations, stakeholder alliances, and content management—enables us to defend, promote, or consolidate key issues, maximizing their impact on decision-making arenas.

The insights and statistics derived from our analyses serve as key elements for managing the reputation—both digital and beyond—of our clients, including through strategic positioning on social channels.

Through this approach, we develop tailored editorial plans for advocacy, create customized social content and campaigns supported by social advertising, and monitor them with performance reports that enable continuous optimization.
The strategic value of this methodology lies in gathering opinions, comments, and reviews from users, voters, and consumers, helping to assess the state of an issue, improve brand reputation, and increase engagement levels on social media accounts.

MEDIA RELATION

The Media Relations Team is a strategic workgroup within Bistoncini Partners.
The central role of communication across all sectors, including public affairs, has required specific expertise, which the company has internally developed since the end of 2022.

The starting point for this type of operation is close collaboration with the entire workgroup, aimed at identifying narrative clusters and developing one or more storytelling lines that enhance the effectiveness of all activities in which Bistoncini Partners is involved.

The Media Relations Team has extensive knowledge of the national and local media landscape, indexed according to different editorial areas. Media relations activities are always managed internally and also carried out through a network of external providers to ensure 360-degree operational coverage.

Increasingly, integrated activities between public affairs and media relations accelerate the achievement of client objectives by facilitating lobbying efforts, as traditional media can prompt decision-makers to take a stance on a particular issue.

Media relations activities also include support for the planning and management of events featuring our clients as key players. This communication strategy has allowed the team to build extensive experience, both in quality and quantity, across a wide range of industries.

Bistoncini Partners has been a leader in public affairs and advocacy activities for Healthcare and the Third Sector for many years.
From this deep expertise comes the Healthcare & People Advocacy Department, with the goal of providing a concrete and methodologically sound response to a sector—Health—that is increasingly interconnected with the Third Sector and other productive and social segments. Here, traditional Government Affairs and Institutional Relations activities merge with Advocacy, in an increasingly complex dynamic.

On one side, we support Companies and Entities—whether directly or indirectly operating within the Healthcare sector—in establishing a network of institutional relationships that allows them to position themselves effectively within various decision-making arenas (regional, national, and European). Through in-depth legislative monitoring, we help our clients stay constantly updated on key regulatory developments, assisting them with Public and Government Affairs to represent their interests in a continuous and constructive dialogue with public decision-makers.

On the other side, given the increasing influence of new players in social policy who have become key stakeholders in political-institutional contexts, and the rise of a new public debate that is increasingly shaped by media and social networks, we actively support various Associations and Organizations in raising awareness, informing stakeholders, and representing their interests. We create alliances among different stakeholders, ensuring that our clients take a proactive role in shaping policy initiatives.

In recent years, territorial engagement has become increasingly important for businesses, both in terms of opportunities and the potential impact they generate. Every investment has the potential to transform a territory, influencing its economic, social, and environmental dynamics. At the same time, each region has unique characteristics and potential that can attract certain types of investments, ultimately enhancing its competitiveness. In this context, the ability to understand and engage with local communities has become a key factor in the success of any project.

The Community Relations Hub at Bistoncini Partners was created to help businesses and organizations understand the political, social, and economic landscape of the regions in which they operate, facilitating a constructive dialogue with local communities. Through a dedicated multidisciplinary team and the digital tools developed by the company, the Community Relations Hub helps mitigate reputational risks, identify opportunities, and develop effective engagement strategies.

LOCAL COMPASS

Understanding territorial dynamics requires in-depth data analysis. To meet this need, Bistoncini Partners has created Local Compass, a data-driven platform developed in collaboration with Open Polis and Nomisma. This tool allows users to analyze and integrate both qualitative and quantitative data across the entire national territory, down to the municipal level.

  • Territorial Context Analysis
  • History of the site and surrounding areas: evolution of the area, current use, and planned modifications
  • Mapping of the social fabric: associations, interest groups, and other community aggregators
  • Socio-economic and demographic analysis of the territory
  • Risks and opportunities related to the investment
  • Stakeholder Engagement
  • Mapping of local stakeholders: institutions, associations, citizen committees, and other relevant actors
  • Analysis of political dynamics and local public debate
  • Proximity of key stakeholders at the national or local level by residence, electoral district, or professional interests

The Brussels Unit operates at the geographic heart of European public affairs, providing clients with continuous updates on the evolving EU political landscape, timely and constant information on legislative developments, and effective representation of their interests within the decision-making process.

In carrying out its activities, the Brussels Office fully reflects the working method that characterizes the entire Bistoncini Partners organization, ensuring consistency with its expertise and experience. This approach, combined with a deep understanding of the political-institutional context, legislative processes, and specific dossiers, enables the Brussels Unit to equip clients with the necessary tools to anticipate both opportunities and potential challenges.

Beyond monitoring and intelligence activities, drafting position papers, and analyzing legislative texts, the Brussels Unit supports clients in building relationships and defining lobbying and stakeholder engagement strategies. This is done both vertically, towards Italian policymakers based in Brussels, and horizontally, engaging with European decision-makers and influencers.

Additional services include developing advocacy strategies through workshops and roundtables, as well as offering tailored training sessions on the functioning of EU institutions to enhance clients’ knowledge and participation in the decision-making process.

Finally, given the increasing interconnection between national and EU levels, the Brussels Unit operates in constant synergy with colleagues in Rome and Milan, ensuring enhanced coverage and effectiveness for the interests it represents.

In 2010, Bistoncini Partners was the first company in the institutional relations landscape to invest in the creation of a research center entirely dedicated to studying, analyzing, and evaluating the global political, social, and economic conditions that influence political decisions and business strategies.
The Research Center, through a cross-cutting vision of regulatory activity and constant monitoring of all institutional arenas, ensures that both the working teams and clients gain a specialized understanding of relevant issues.
The expansion and evolution of the international landscape have reshaped policy arenas: in certain industries, political risk is now the primary variable to consider in the assessment of a client’s business.
